Each Bembien piece is handmade in small batches, and therefore distinctly unique. Expect slight variations in color and weave. The leather color will vary slightly from batch to batch. Our artisan partners do their best to keep colors as consistent as possible, but there may be subtle differences.

We do not offer half sizes at this time. We recommend measuring your foot from heel to toe and following the size guide located on the product page.

We do not offer different width sizes. If you are unsure what size is best for you, please email customerservice@bembien.com and we will assist you.

We do not currently offer vegan leather, but we are actively exploring it for future collections.

For items that have sold-out and are being restocked, we offer a pre-order option to guarantee your order in the next shipment. The shipping window is stated on the product page and in your order status online. 

Please note that the shipping window is a best estimate from our artisan partners and there may be unforeseen delays. You will be notified if there is a delay with your pre-order. 

Pre-orders are charged at the time of purchase like a regular order. A pre-order guarantees that you will receive a sold-out item in the next available shipping window. We are unable to process exchanges. Please return your original order for a refund and place a new order online for the item you wish to exchange to.

International orders are not eligible for return.

All “final sale” items are not eligible for return, refund, or store credit.

Your return will be processed within 7 to 10 days after your returned item reaches our warehouse. 

For best results, we recommend using a natural leather conditioner. Apply a small amount onto a lint-free cloth to condition and moisturize any dry or cracked leather. Avoid prolonged heat or light. Store your bag in its dust bag during long stretches without use. Avoid oils or sprayed perfume or beauty products, as they can cause staining. Use a soft brush to remove dust.

When possible, keep your bag dry. Excessive moisture or wetness can damage leather, especially natural leather without chemical pigmentation like Bembien bags.

We recommend storing in a dry place and avoiding water. Our bags love the beach, but they’re best kept on the sand and away from the sea. Over time, if any stray pieces of rattan jut out from the weave, clip with a pair of nail trimmers.

Our rattan bags are woven by hand, then smoked over coconut husks, which strengthens the rattan and gives it a warm, golden color. The bags are then dried out in the Bali sun for several days to let the smoke waft. There may still be a residual coconut smoke scent when you receive your bag. We love and embrace the smokiness — it reminds us that this is a natural product made with natural materials from the Earth. The scent will dissipate over time, but if you want to speed up the process, air your bag out with the lid open (when applicable) in a dry place, ideally where there is a breeze or draft.

If your detachable strap is in need of repair or replacement, please reach out to our customer care team for assistance at customerservice@bembien.com. We are not able to offer other repairs. We recommend taking your item to your trusted leather or shoe repair shop.
