How to tie a silk scarf

Our silk scarves are made in Italy and add an elegant touch to any outfit. Discover four ways to style this timeless accessory.

It's easy to be inspired by the allure of the silk scarf—from Slim Aarons photos to Grace Kelly to Audrey Hepburn—it's almost synonymous with elegance. But for the uninitiated, figuring out how to style one can feel intimidating. This guide will show you four easy ways to wear a silk scarf.

1. As a bandana

Fold your scarf into a triangle. Wrap the ends over your head and tie them under your hair (it can be easier to flip your head upside down to avoid catching your hair in the knot). If you have side bangs, you can pull them out entirely or leave them tucked in.

Glossy scarves may move around against your hair, so you can use bobby pins to keep the scarf in place. Our crêpe de Chine scarves have a slight texture, which helps them stay in place.

2. As a top

Fold your scarf into a triangle. Wrap it across your torso with the pointed end facing down and tie it across your back (you may need a second pair of hands!). Paired with high waisted bottoms or a sarong.

3. In your hair

Tie your hair in a ponytail or bun using an elastic. Fold your scarf into a triangle, then fold it from the long side around one inch and repeat until it's one skinny line. Wrap the scarf around your ponytail or bun and tie in a knot or bow.

4. As a headband

Fold your scarf into a triangle and repeat the steps from #3. Pull the scarf under your hair (it can be easier to flip your head upside down) and tie it in a bow at the top of your head.

This appears to be a style guide for wearing silk scarves in four different ways: as a bandana, as a top, in your hair, and as a headband.
